New Heavy Metal Magazine reboot! (Again)
Issue #321 has been released in April 2025 as a new #1.
What's thrilling is that six of the stories feature characters from the Heavy Metal movie.
COLDDEAD WAR: THE AFTERMATH (8 pages)
Written & Illustrated by Craig Wilson - Edited by Frank Forte
In this sequel to the B-17 segment in the movie, Craig Wilson succeeds in capturing the atmospheric mood of an island crawling with zombies.
Mr. Wilson, who worked in Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K.2, has been kind enough, once more, to talk to this blog about how this brilliant piece of work came to be:
- I've been in Heavy Metal a few times over the years, and have worked with Frank Forte -- its current editor -- previously. Frank's in the animation biz like me, and has previously published underground horror anthologies under the shingle Asylum Press. So he came to me with the choice to carry on either Taarna or Cold Dead War. I have ideas for FAKK2, so I hedged my bets on CDW, a 6 ish storyline first.
- We're not sure if the previous publisher Kevin Eastman holds the rights to FAKK2, hopefully I can do something with her after this, maybe even get her to go head to head with Taarna.
